The Institute of Japanese Religions and Cultural History of Waseda University and IEAS successfully co-organized a Forum on Traditional Japanese Theatrical Art on 13 May 2016. On 31 May 2016, Mr Ryuraku SANYUTE(三游亭竜楽), who performed rakugo for IEAS students in the said Forum, wrote an article in his newspaper column about rakugo on Asahi Shimbun. As a popular traditional comic storytelling artist in Japan, he wrote how he entertained IEAS students by performing a comical story bilingually and playing the roles of different characters simultaneously.
