22 May 2017: Three IEAS students at the University of Seoul


 In March 2017, three IEAS students ZHANG Xuyi, CHENG Xiaoyun and LI Chengmei started spending one year at the University of Seoul as visiting students exploring the culture and language of Korea.  
 
Life as a visiting student in a foreign country is an intense balancing act. Three of them found Korea caught up in a whirlwind of innovation. Koreans are full of an indomitable energy that saturates their cities and towns. According to three of them, those who study at the University of Seoul will discover an academic adventure filled with endless experience. The University of Seoul is in the bustling metropolis filled with spirited students and professors, captivating in its wide array of researches and unique academic atmosphere. Its vibrant diversity and rich academic tradition make it an ideal setting for IEAS students wishing to develop their own sense of East Asian studies in this celebrated university. They expanded their knowledge in a variety of different academic fields.
 
The infectious optimism  of  Korean  about their homeland inspires three IEAS students to make use of stunning venue to explore the distinctive features of Korean culture, history and art, past and present. Through site visits and cultural activities, they developed an understanding of Korean society and the country's recent emergence as one of the major industrialized countries in the world.
  
Throughout this one year study abroad program at the University of Seoul, they will also be immersed in contemporary Korean life, with plenty of chance to practice Korean language skills and experience the beautiful  landscapes.
